Planetary gearboxes in mobile equipment are used as propel drives in tracked vehicles or as wheel drives in wheeled vehicles as well as swing drives for rotary motion and as winch drives for lifting and lowering loads. For industrial applications, Lohmann & Stolterfoht supplies planetary gearboxes with two, three or four planetary stages or combined with spur gear stage or bevel stage. The planetary gearboxes are available with numerous Lohmann & Stolterfoht hydraulic motors. A combination with electric motors is also possible. For wind turbines, Lohmann & Stolterfoht can supply generator gearboxes for power ratings from 660 to 5,000 kW as well as pitch and yaw drives.

Scope of work:
We preformed an inspection of the gearbox in Canada. Because of the latest incident and there were no possibility to inspect the sleeve and thrust bearings of the main gear set, we recommended: Perform extensive inspection of the propulsion gearbox (disassembly of gearbox required): - Check tooth contact patterns. - Measure backlashes. - Measure bearing clearances (radial and axial). - Inspect sleeve bearings and shaft journals. - Inspect thrust bearings. - Perform non-destructive testing of gears. - Perform an alignment check between output shaft and propeller shaft. Provide results (reports / pictures) of earlier performed visual inspection of the propulsion gearbox to determine of the observed in-line pitting has been stabilized.

Scope of work:
For the replacement of one of the bearings in a production line, our customer had to dismount the gearbox. During this dismounting the output shaft was damaged and it was thought that the output bearings in the gearbox were also damaged. getriebe As a result an inspection of the complete gearbox was required, including the production of a new output shaft. The whole inspection, overhauling, engineering and producing of the gearbox and output shaft had to be done in less then two weeks. prüfung Since no drawings where available, first thing done was the dismounting of the output shaft to get the shaft properties and to create a new drawing using reverse engineering. With this information the new hollow output shaft with a spline connection at the end was created in less then five days. The Lohmann and Stolterfoht GPV 235 consist of a triple planetary reduction, with an output of 196 990 Nm. All bearings were replaced and all planetary stages where checked on cracks. It was found that none of the gears had cracks or had to be renewed. With this information all the parts of the gearbox have been put together and a test run was made. With this test run the temperatures in the gearbox were measured to make sure that there were no errors in the system. During the overhaul the customer decided to let Gearbox Services International place the gearbox again in the production line. With this placement a Vibration Measurement was performed to be sure that the gearbox was properly placed.
