We reported our findings to our client, including an complete inspection report.

Conversion of a spare gearbox of brand ZPMC.

A container handling company in the port of Rotterdam invited GBS to perform a vibration measurement on a main hoist gearbox of a deep sea dual trolley container crane.

The spectra recorded on the gearbox showed clear fault frequency peaks related to the high-speed shaft bearings. These recorded fault frequencies indicated bearing damage on the outer ring raceway and rolling elements.

GBS recommended replacing both high-speed shaft bearings as soon as possible and perform an extensive visual inspection of the gearbox. During the first scheduled stand still of the crane GBS performed the repair of the main hoist gearbox.

Proposal Revision and supplies:
- The execution of the repair as described in our inspection.
- The renewal of the bearings and seals, supply GBS.
- Update of various consumables like gaskets, mountings, etc.
- The refit of the gearbox.
- If necessary, machining the surfaces of the bearing covers for axial bearing clearances.
- Checking the contact pattern and flank clearances.
- Bench test preparations, gearbox preparation, fill with oil and no-load test for 4 hours, in presence of the customer.
- Gearbox assembly externally after degreasing and preservation according customers specifications.
- Gearbox prepare for shipping.

For a final check we performed a test run with a test run report.

- Making an adjustment proposal to prevent the gearbox from leaking.
- Applying the adjustment proposal on the gearbox and performing another test run to check if the gearbox is leaking with a test run report.
