WINDLASS GEAR gearbox - Inspection and Repair on location

Scope of work:

We performed an inspection and repair on a gearbox WINDLASS Gear .

The conversion operations consists of:

• Inspection and installation of the output shaft gearwheel at the port side windlass gear onboard of the Tristar Dubai in Gent, Belgium.


• The scope of work as provided by SB Worldwide Gearbox Services was:
• Remove the partially mounted gearwheel on the output shaft.
• Inspect and polish the shaft end.
• Inspect and polish the bore of the gearwheel.
• Reinstall the gearwheel on the output shaft.
• Check the backlash of the output gear set.
